Whooper Swans breed across northern Europe (including Iceland) and Siberia. This one was photographed flying along the coast near Nemuro-Shibetsu on the island of Hokkaido, Japan, a traditional wintering area. Photo taken with a 300mm f4.0 EDAF AF lens on Kodachrome 200 film. (Date: January 1996)

Blue-winged Teal are common breeding ducks throughout much of the US and Canada. Males, like this one, are unmistakable with their quarter-moon face patch. This drake Blue-winged Teal was photographed at Port Aransas Birding Center, Port Aransas, TX.
