Locally known as the "Cotton Top", the scaled Quail is a common resident of the southwestern US. This one was photographed perched on a fencepost along a road in southern Colorado. Photo taken with a 300mm f4.5 Nikkor ED lens on Ektachrome 200 film pushed to 400. (Date: June 1986)
