Bar-tailed Godwits breed across northern Europe and Asia. They are also regular migrants and scarce breeders in western Alaska. When this one showed up five springs in a row along the New Jersey coast during the 1970's, it was always at the top of the Rare Bird Alert! This "European" Bar-tailed Godwit was photographed at the Longport Sod Banks near Longport, New Jersey. Photo taken with a Celestron 750mm f5.6 mirror lens on Ektachrome 200 film. (Date: May 1977)
