Royal Terns occur in southern North America and along the west coast of Africa. In North America they breed along the mid-Atlantic, southeastern, and Gulf coasts of the US. They are residents in the southern portion of their range. This flock was photographed resting on the beach along the causeway to Sanibel Island, Florida. Photo taken with a 300mm f4.5 Nikkor ED lens on Kodachrome 64 film. (Date: November 1979)
