Sandwich Terns occur in North America and Europe. In North America they breed along the mid-Atlantic and Gulf coasts of the US. They winter along the southern coasts from Florida to Texas. This one was was photographed resting on the beach along the causeway to Sanibel Island, Florida. Photo taken with a 300mm f4.5 Nikkor ED lens on Kodachrome 64 film. (Date: November 1979)

Brown Thrashers breed throughout the eastern and northcentral US and along southern Canada. They winter in the southeastern US and along the mid-Atlantic states. This one was photographed after it took refuge on our boat a hundred miles out to sea on a pelagic trip out of Montauk, Long Island in New York. Photo taken with a 300mm f4.5 Nikkor ED lens on Kodachrome 200 film. (Date: September 1987)
