Willet
[Tringa semipalmata]

[Length 15 in. Wingspan 26 in.]

This Willet was photographed at Sandy Hook, New Jersey, USA. Photo taken with a Celestron 750 lens on Ektachrome 200 film. (Date: September 1976)

The subspecies ("Eastern" = semipalmata, or "Western" = inornata) of this bird has not been determined. Although this bird was photographed in New Jersey (which should make it an "Eastern"), September is a late date for Willets in New Jersey (which could indicate it is a "Western" which lost its way during migration). Comments on the ID are welcome.
