Clapper Rail - Gulf Coast
[Rallus crepitans scotti]
[Length 14.5 in. Wingspan 19 in.]
This bird was initially identified as a Clapper Rail.
However, the warm reddish-brown edges of the back feathers and orange-tinted breast suggest King Rail, so comments on the ID are welcome.
This bird was photographed at Anahuac NWR, Texas, USA.
Photo taken with a AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED lens (EFL=450mm) on a Nikon D200 camera.
