Ravens are common birds of the foothills and mountains of the western US, southern Canada, and Alaska. They can be told from Crows by their wedge-shaped tail, shaggy throat, and hoarse, croaking calls. Ravens are opportunistic feeders and easily co-exist with man and his garbage.
